EMS For Children Survey

The following is a survey that my supervisor and I created. There are 12 questions in total which was sent to the 55 EMS agencies in Rhode Island through Survey Monkey. The questions in this survey consisted of identifying a Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator (PECC) within their agency. In this process, I learned that receiving data and results are not easy. Referring to the adoption life cycle, there were early adopters who took the survey once it was sent out. There were early and late majority who took the survey a week or two after. Then there were the laggards, who needed more information in order to take the survey.

In order to have created this survey, my supervisor and I referred back to the previous interviews of EMS agencies and developed the interview questions into a questionnaire. Many agencies were able to identify a PECC while others weren't able to for different reasons. The agencies that provided their contact to know more information about what a PECC is received a presentation.

PECC Presentation

The following is a presentation that my supervisor and I created. This presentation includes the definition and roles of a Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator (PECC) within EMS agencies. The Rules and Regulations in RI are also included, how an EMS PECC as one of the administrative staffs is required for licensure.

This presentation was created to send to the EMS agencies interested in learning more information about a PECC. These agencies could have been the ones that did not know much information, if any at all, about what a PECC is and what their role consists of. That was ok because we felt as though if much information wasn't given in the beginning, each EMS agency should have the right to know more information. This presentation was also sent to the agencies that couldn't identify a PECC. Maybe after learning more information, they would be able to identify someone. After they finish reading through the presentation, we ask if they have a good understanding and if so, to complete the survey provided. In this survey, we ask again if they know someone within their agency that could be identified as a PECC. If they have someone in mind, they will provide their name. If they do not have someone in mind even after more information was provided, they would answer no and that would be the end of the survey.
